Jersey the three month old kitten.

A kitten used one of its nine lives after it fell off a high-rise building’s balcony and lived.

According to a BC SPCA press release, a three-month-old kitten named Jersey fell from a fourth-floor balcony in Victoria and was seriously injured.

Jersey’s owners took him to a veterinarian shortly afterwards, where it was determined that he needed emergency surgery and hospitalization as well as pain management to repair a fractured elbow, which ultimately cost $2,000.

The family couldn’t afford the surgery and ended up surrendering Jersey to the BC SPCA’s Victoria branch.

Surgery was performed on Jersey, resulting in his front right leg being amputated.

BC SPCA says Jersey is now “doing well” in foster care where he is recovering and learning to walk in a tripod as a result of the amputation. He will be available for adoption once sutures are removed and he is fully healed.

Jersey is described as a “trooper” who is very affectionate and loves watching hockey with his foster family.
