BC Hydro suspects a lightning strike was behind a widespread power outage in northern and central British Columbia.
The outages began last night at 9:30 local time, with more than 120-thousand homes and businesses left in the dark.
The utility blamed a transmission failure likely caused by the lightning but will continue to investigate.
Power was restored to thousands within an hour – and to nearly all the rest by early this morning.
