The public is being asked to say clear of Elk Falls Thursday and Friday this week as BC Hydro plans to increase canyon water flow.

The Crown corporation says it is going to increase flow from four cubic metres-per second to 10 m3/s in the early morning hours Thursday.

BC Hydro says the increase in the canyon’s flow is related to testing within the new underground John Hart powerhouse.

It will be decreased the following day from the John Hart dam and reduced to the minimum flow.

The flow in the Campbell River will go up to about 134 m3/s with the powerhouse running at full capacity.

BC Hydro says river flow will be reduced once testing is complete.
