BC Ferries has announced that it will be piloting a series of new late-night commercial sailings over the next month between Tsawwassen and Duke Point.

The ferry service says that it will be trialling these additional commercial sailings from Sept. 7 to Oct. 7.

The sailings, provided by the Queen of New Westminster, will depart Tsawwassen at 9:15 pm and depart Duke Point at 12:15 am Monday through Thursday evenings.

The organization says it hopes that adding these sailings will help address the increased demand for commercial goods that has been driven by the growth of e-commerce, groceries, and general freight.

BC Ferries says that the pilot will gain feedback and take customer reactions and input over the course of the trial period.

In addition to commercial vehicles, BC Ferries says that a limited number of passengers travelling in under-height vehicles will also be accommodated on these sailings on the main car deck.

The recommendation from BC Ferries is for customers to book these late-night sailings in advance.

One additional note from the ferry company is that no catering options will be offered on the late-night trips and therefore, it is encouraged that customers bring a snack with them.

More information on the pilot project can be found online at the BC Ferries website.
