A medical emergency onboard the Coastal Celebration is expected to cause the ferry to operate behind schedule for the rest of the day.

After departing Swartz Bay headed for Tsawwassen at 7 a.m., the ferry was required to return to dock due to a staff member having a medical emergency.

The ferry then left dock 41 minutes late. A spokesperson for BC Ferries told CHEK News the crew will try to make up time, but the ferry is expected to run behind schedule for the remainder of the day.

Passengers with reservations are advised to arrive at the ferry terminal for the original scheduled time to maintain reserved status.

“This ensures we can stage your vehicle at the terminal ahead of standby customers and those reserved on later sailings,” according to the BC Ferries service notice. “If you are travelling without a booking today, check our Current Conditions webpage to see how much space remains available on today’s sailings.”
