Tsawwassen to the Southern Gulf Islands will be operated with a single ship, the Salish Raven, for the next 60 days.

British Columbia’s provincial ferry operator is adjusting the service levels on the routes that travel to the Southern Gulf Islands.

BC Ferries announced Wednesday that they’re moving to a more “simplified” schedule to connect Vancouver Island with some of its smaller counterparts. The adjustment, which will remain in place for the next 60 days, is being done to “support the movement of essential goods” and protect the health of ferry workers and those living in these island communities.

Beginning April 10, service between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands will be operated with a single ship, the Salish Raven. The Raven will travel between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay, making stops at Pender Island, Mayne Island and Galiano Island.

The other service to the Gulf Islands will be delivered by the Queen of Cumberland and will operate between Swartz Bay, Saturna, Mayne, Galiano and Pender.

Meanwhile, service to Salt Spring’s Long Harbour has been suspended as the island will be serviced by its two other routes – the Fulford Harbour route from Swartz Bay as well as the Crofton – Vesuvius route.

Customers with reservations on canceled sailings on the Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Islands route will be automatically refunded.

The revised schedule will be available for booking reservations in the near future.
