Following requests from residents and an increase in traffic, BC Ferries has decided to add more sailings to the Comox-Powell River route.

Starting on Dec. 20, there will be Wednesday and Saturday afternoon sailings along the route.

BC Ferries said it also consulted with the Northern Sunshine Coast Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) before making the change.

“I want to recognize the FAC and the many residents that have championed the return of these sailings,” Mark Wilson, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Strategy and Community Engagement, said in a statement.

“For BC Ferries, adding these sailings helps us achieve our commitment to connect communities, while providing additional capacity to address increasing traffic demand.”

There will be a total of four round-trip sailings every day. The ferry leaves Comox (Little River) at 6:20 a.m., 10 a.m., 3:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

The ferry leaves Powell River (Westview) at 8:05 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 5:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
