Lucas Bradwell, a serial bank robber who targeted branches in Sidney, Vancouver and Abbotsford, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Bradwell has pleaded guilty to robberies at all three locations, which took place over the course of 2019.

A warrant for the arrest of the North Vancouver man was issued by Sidney-North Saanich RCMP back in July of 2019 after an incident took place at the TD Bank on Beacon Avenue.

During the robbery, police said that Bradwell gave a note to a teller and demanded cash be handed over to him. He took an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the bank without using any weapons.

Further investigation led officers to the conclusion that Bradwell had performed similar robberies at banks in Abbotsford and Vancouver as well.

Although it is unsure when authorities were able to track down the bank robber, however, his court appearances began at the beginning of this year.

“The initial appearances by the accused were all in January or February of this year.  I do not have any information to share regarding his activities before he made these initial appearances,” Dan McLaughlin, member of the Communications Counsel with the BC Prosecution Services told CHEK News.

According to BC Prosecution Services, Bradwell pleaded guilty to three charges of robbery on July 16, 2020, with a sentence totalling three years.

“Convictions for these offences carry a mandatory firearm prohibition pursuant to the provisions of s. 109 of the Criminal Code. All sentences will be served concurrently. There are no other conditions attached to this sentence,” McLaughlin said.

The provincial court database highlights that Bradwell has prior convictions for theft, among other criminal activities.
