WATCH: A long-time Jeopardy! fan, who hoped to one day appear on the show, will now get her chance. Ceilidh Millar reports.

A long-time fan of the game show, Jeopardy!, received the news she had been waiting for.

Whistler resident Hannah McIntyre was invited by CHEK News to film a promotional video for the station about her Jeopardy! audition experience.

The 30-year-old was one of the dozens of hopefuls who auditioned for a spot on Jeopardy! earlier this year in downtown Vancouver.

Similar to tens of thousands of people before her, McIntyre took her shot at answering a wide range of skill-testing and knowledge-based questions in a gruelling two-hour audition – all in the hopes of making it on the show.

“It’s not quite getting onto the show, but I was about just as excited,” McIntyre said about her audition experience.

Earlier this week, CHEK News received a call from the show’s producers saying that McIntyre had beaten out the competition and earned a chance to click the infamous buzzer at an upcoming filming at their studio in Burbank, California.

Armed with a life-size cut-out of famous Canadian host Alex Trebek, CHEK News’ Ceilidh Millar made the trek to Whistler from Victoria to surprise her with the news.

McIntyre is expected to appear on the show in August.

Through its blend of knowledge-testing questions, easy-to-follow format and dry wit of Toronto Maple Leaf-loving host Trebek, Jeopardy! has withstood the test of time and entertained fans for over four decades.

Watch Jeopardy! on CHEK Monday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
