The Spirit of British Columbia ferry was delayed this morning due to an issue with “availability of crew.”
In a notice on Twitter, the ferry company said the boat was held in dock due to a crewing issue, then later said the ferry left 39 minutes behind schedule for the 7 a.m. sailing leaving Tsawwassen.
#ServiceNotice #Tsawwassen – #SwartzBay #SpiritofBC is currently operating 39 mins behind schedule due to the availability of crew. We appreciate your patience.

On its website, BC Ferries says the 11 a.m. sailing left 34 minutes behind schedule due to the earlier crew availability issue.
“Despite the delay, please arrive during the check-in window noted in your booking confirmation email to maintain your reserved status,” the notice on BC Ferries website says. “This ensures we can stage your vehicle at the terminal ahead of standby customers and those reserved on later sailings.”
BC Ferries tells CHEK News the crew is working to get back on schedule.
A spokesperson for BC Ferries told CHEK News the crewing issue was not due to staff illness, but did not say what the cause was after being asked.
