Official sources say the Auditor General of Canada Mike Ferguson has passed away at the age of 60.
The Office of the Auditor General says he passed away following a battle with cancer.
“It is with profound sadness that we must inform you that Mike Ferguson, the Auditor General of Canada, has passed away,” a statement reads.
“Over the past seven years, Mike has led our organization with compassion for everyone, and he was convinced of the great value of this office’s work.”
Appointed in 2011 his term was set to end in 2021.
