A 4.5-magnitude earthquake on Monday off of Vancouver Island’s west coast was an aftershock to recent seismic activity in the Pacific Ocean, according to Natural Resources Canada.
The earthquake struck at 12:26 p.m. about 180 kilometres west of Port Alice on northern Vancouver Island at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Natural Resources Canada said there were no reports of damage and none would be expected. A tsunami is also not expected.

There has been an earthquake and several recent aftershocks in the same area since Oct. 21. On that day, there were three earthquakes ranging from 6.5 to 6.8.
