A man with a history of sexual violence has been arrested.
Scott Jones, 56, a court designated dangerous offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large, was arrested Sunday morning by the West Shore RCMP.
Victoria Police Department had been searching for Jones after he was last seen in the 500-block of Johnson Street on Friday afternoon.
Jones, according to the department, was under the care of Corrections Canada with specific conditions but broke those conditions.
“Scott Jones has a history of violent sexual offences. He is a risk to women and girls in our community, my hope is that people keep an eye out for him,” Bowen Osoko, a spokesperson with the Victoria Police Department, told media on Saturday.
Jones is now in custody.
