B.C. Ferries crews rescued two people, after their kayak flipped in the water Tuesday afternoon.

The Coastal Renaissance was about to leave on a sailing from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay, when crew members spotted an overturned double kayak and two people in the water around 4 p.m.

The terminal then launched a small vessel to retrieved them along with their kayak.

They were both brought to shore, and were uninjured. Both were wearing life jackets.

“The ship and shore worked really well together to get to these people as soon as possible,” said B.C. Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall.

The vessel did run behind schedule briefly due to the incident.
