Elections BC says the voting period to receive your electoral reform vote could be extended if rotating postal strikes impact the process.
The organization says so far, Canadian Union of Postal Workers job action has not changed the delivery schedule for referendum packages.
The voting period began Oct. 22, the same day postal workers began rotating strikes during contract negotiations with Canada Post.
Elections BC says Chief Electoral Officer Anton Boegman has the authority to extend the voting period, if necessary, should the strike have an impact on ballots being received by Elections BC.
As of 8:20 a.m. Thursday morning, Elections BC says it has received 900,000 referendum packages, a return of about 27 per cent.
The current deadline for Elections BC to receive ballots is Nov. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
Ballots can be sent by mail or delivered in person to a Referendum Service Office (RSO).
Elections BC is also reminding voters who have not received a package the deadline to request one is tomorrow at midnight.
You can request for one online, by phone at 1-800-661-8683 or in person at an RSO.
Hours to call for a package are until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to midnight Friday.
