A 3-month-old baby and two other occupants left relatively unscathed after their sedan flipped near Uptown
A three-month-old baby is lucky to have been uninjured in a vehicle rollover near the Uptown shopping centre, says Saanich police.
Saanich police and fire, along with the BC Ambulance Service, responded at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving reports of a flipped sedan in the southbound lanes on the TransCanada highway.
The vehicle had three occupants. The 28-year-old driver was sent to hospital with a broken arm, while the 24-year-old female passenger and three-month-old baby suffered no injuries.
The infant was in a car seat.
Saanich police say it is “miraculous” that all three occupants left relatively unscathed.
The sedan was travelling in the northbound lane when it struck a low-lying median and flipped into the opposing lane.
Investigators believe speed was a factor and say it was lucky the sedan had not hit any other opposing traffic. The driver was issued a ticket under the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
Police are reminding the public to slow down and remain vigilant of posted speed limits.
