Rare vehicles lined Beacon Avenue and gave spectators a lot to check out at the eighth annual Torque Master Sidney Summer Car Show.
The car show made its triumphant return on Sunday and had more than 400 vehicles in attendance, making it one of the only shows on Vancouver Island to have just about every car imaginable on display.
Organizer Ken Coward says the show’s openness to all cars is what makes it unique.
“Our car show is open to all cars — new, old and everything in between, including motorcycles and trucks,” Coward told CHEK News.
“You know we get a little bit of everything here which makes us unique.”
The cars on display included a 1963 Chevrolet Nova, 1963 Ford Sprint, 1964 Mercury M100, and many more.
Much of why car owners resonate with their vehicles so much is because of personal memories.
Ken Featherston is the owner of a 1953 Ford F-100 that was on display and said a passion for cars made up much of his childhood.
“I don’t know, I guess we’re all just gearheads,” said Featherston.
“It’s something about growing up with vehicles and being around people that were mechanically and kind of getting the bug.”
Torque Masters is a car club that’s been around the island since the 60s.
In this year’s Sidney car show, members added a QR code on each vehicle for attendees to vote for their favourite of the bunch.
