The Free-B Film Festival offers family fun this month at Beacon Hill Park.

Bring the popcorn and a blanket for nights under the stars watching B-movie classics surrounded by the nature of Beacon Hill Park.

The Victoria Film Festival’s (VFF) Free-B Film Festival hits the screen at the park’s Cameron Bandshell this August for six movie screenings on consecutive Fridays and Saturdays starting at around 9 p.m.

Rain or shine, the all-ages festival is free and everyone is welcome to attend. “Films are usually rated G or PG, with some exceptions,” according to the VFF.

Festival-goers will be able to enjoy films like Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II, A Hard Day’s Night and Journey To the Centre of the Earth, with french language shorts set to play before evening features.

The full line-up includes:

  • Aug. 5 — Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II
  • Aug. 6 — The Muppet Movie
  • Aug. 12 — What About Bob?
  • Aug. 13 — A Hard Day’s Night
  • Aug. 19 — The Tingler
  • Aug. 20 — Journey To the Centre of the Earth

Snacks and drinks are encouraged, however, no alcoholic beverages or smoking is allowed and the public is reminded to dispose of their garbage when leaving.

The VFF is also putting out a call for Free-B Film Festival volunteers, asking anyone interested in helping out to email [email protected] for more information.
