52-year-old man arrested in connection with three armed robberies in Saanich

A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in Saanich that occurred in a five-day span.

Saanich police said early in the morning on Saturday, May 25, the 7-Eleven at 10 Burnside Road West was robbed. A man entered the store, took out a gun and demanded money from an employee. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

The second robbery took place Sunday morning at around 4:30 a.m. Police said a man and a woman approached two employees behind the store counter at the 7-Eleven at 3775 Carey Road. One of the suspects held a gun while the pair demanded money. The two suspects took off with cash and cigarettes.

Then at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the TD Bank at 309 Burnside Road West was robbed. Police said that a red dye pack was activated by the suspect when he left the bank.

Saanich police said with help from VicPD, a 52-year-old man was arrested in downtown Victoria on Wednesday.

Police are recommending three counts of robbery with a firearm. The man is in custody. His name has not been released at this time.

“The impact of these crimes was felt by many people and victim services has been engaged to provide support to all those involved,” Sgt. Julie Fast, Saanich police public information officer, wrote in a release.

Police are still looking for the woman involved in the second 7-Eleven robbery. Anyone with information regarding this woman is asked to call police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
