WorkSafeBC is investigating the death of a man after a workplace accident near Lake Cowichan on Aug. 14.
Few details have been released but WorkSafeBC said they are investigating a “serious incident” involving a truck operator in that area. The BC Coroners Service have also been notified about the death.
Friends, family and obituary posted online have confirmed the man was 51-year-old Shane Pywell. The obituary said Pywell peacefully passed away at the Victoria General Hospital on Aug. 16, after a tragic workplace accident.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, mother, father, two brothers, nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held for Pywell at HW Wallace in Duncan at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
