A handful of recent flights linked to Vancouver Island have been identified as having had a COVID-19 exposure onboard.

The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has added five Island flights to its coronavirus exposure list since Saturday. Two of the flights are linked to Victoria, another two flights are linked to Nanaimo and the remaining flight is connected to Comox.

The five flights with exposures are listed below:

– WestJet 185 from Calgary to Victoria on Sept. 17 (affected rows are 13-19)
– North Cariboo Air 2010 from Vancouver to Nanaimo on Sept. 16 (affected rows are 4-10)
– North Cariboo Air 2010 from Nanaimo to Fort St. John on Sept. 16 (affected rows are 4-10 and unknown)
– WestJet 3339 from Edmonton to Comox on Sept. 15 (affected rows are 1-5)
– WestJet 3169 from Calgary to Victoria on Sept. 5 (affected rows are 3-9)

Those who were on a flight that has been added to the province’s COVID-19 exposure list should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days and those who were sitting in rows identified are considered to be at a higher risk of exposure due to their proximity, says the BCCDC.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, runny nose, headache and fatigue.

The addition of five flights to the province’s COVID exposure list brings the total number of Island flights with reported exposures this year to 152.
