
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck off of the coast of northern Vancouver Island Wednesday afternoon.
Earthquakes Canada said the earthquake was recorded at 12:20 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometres. It was 215 kilometres west of Port Hardy, 383 kilometres west of Campbell River and 554 kilometres west of Vancouver.

Earthquakes Canada said the quake was not felt and there were no reports of damage, and none would be expected. No tsunami is expected.
The United States Geological Survey recorded the earthquake as a magnitude 4.4.
