The earthquake struck around 30-kilometres off the coast of Haida Gwaii (US Geological Survey)

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck around 30 kilometres west of Haida Gwaii’s coast at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Initial reports by Natural Resources Canada say it was slightly felt in Masset and the Village of Queen Charlotte.

Officials say no damage was or is expected to have occurred.

No tsunami warning has been issued. The quake struck at a depth of 15 Kilometres.
