23-year-old man airlifted to hospital following a motorcycle crash in Nanaimo

A 23-year-old was airlifted to hospital in serious condition following a motorcycle crash in Nanaimo Thursday night.

A 23-year-old motorcycle driver was airlifted to the Victoria General Hospital Thursday night following a crash with another vehicle in Nanaimo.

R. Const. Gary O’Brien, with the Nanaimo RCMP described his condition as serious.

The incident occurred at 7:45 p.m., at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Fifth Street.

Police say the driver of an older model car had just stopped at a stop sign and was travelling northbound on Howard when they collided with the motorcyclist who was travelling eastbound.

Drugs and alcohol have been ruled out for the 70-year-old woman who was driving the car.

Authorities are looking for anyone who may have captured the incident on a dash cam or witnessed to the crash.
