Foul play suspected in death of woman on Salt Spring Island

Authorities suspect foul play in the death of a woman whose body was found at a duplex on Salt Spring Island on Wednesday.

Members of the community have confirmed the woman is Heather Jones, who is the owner of Amber Cab Co. and well-known on the island.

According to RCMP, a woman was found dead inside a duplex on Maliview Drive shortly before 12 p.m. on Dec. 6. A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death.

Police say the man who was taken into custody was known to the victim and foul play is suspected in the death.

RCMP have not provided any more details about the death.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the B.C. Coroners Service are all investigating.
