For the first time ever, the Victoria Pride Parade will be aired live on CHEK TV and CHEK+.

While CHEK has livestreamed the parade before back in 2019 — the last time it was held due to the pandemic — this year marks the first time the parade will be broadcast in its entirety on television.

This year, the parade features a new route that heads east over the Johnson Street Bridge before heading south onto Wharf Street, then follows the familiar route of Government, Belleville and Menzies streets.

Once again, the pride festival will be held after the parade in James Bay’s MacDonald Park until 8 p.m., hosted by Peach Cobblah and Isolde N. Barron with special musical guests Queer as Funk and Ange Hehr.

Pride Week in Victoria takes place from June 23 to July 2 and features a number of events that you can find out about here.

Parade and festival vendor applications are also open on the Pride Society’s website. However, VPS notes that the applications will undergo a new vetting process that focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion to “ensure that members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities are the focus.”

If you can’t make it in person, tune in to CHEK and CHEK+ at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 to watch the parade.
