Saanich police say they are searching for a suspect after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Saanich on Thursday.

Police say the teen was approach by a man on a B.C. Transit bus, who began engaging her in conversation.

They say she exited the bus at the Royal Oak Exchange and was followed by the man around 9:30 p.m., who later began to make unwanted sexual advancements towards her which including unwanted touching.

They say the teen was not not physically injured during the sexual assault and officials have offered various resources to her.

The suspect is described as man who is around 30-years-old. He has a dark complexion and is around five-feet seven-inches tall.

He was clean-shaven and was wearing skinny jeans and spoke with an accent. It is believed English is not his first language.

“Our first priority is the safety of our residents, and we are hoping to identify the suspect as soon as possible,” said Detective Sergeant Damian Kowalewich of the Saanich police.
