14 new COVID deaths in B.C. over weekend, 359 people hospitalized

B.C. health officials are reporting 14 new COVID deaths over the weekend, and 359 people hospitalized with the virus.

Seven of the deaths occurred in Fraser Health, five in Vancouver Coastal Health, and two in Interior Health.

Of the 359 people hospitalized, 51 people are in intensive care.

There are 689 new confirmed cases of COVID in the province, 102 of which are in Island Health.

In Fraser Health there are 213 new cases, 166 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 150 in Interior Health, 58 in Northern Health, and zero in people who normally reside outside Canada.

There are no new healthcare facility outbreaks.

From March 4 to 10, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 17.3 per cent of cases. From Feb. 25 to March 10, they accounted for 29.4 per cebt of hospitalizations.

13.2 per cent of people eligible in the province have received fewer than two doses of a COVID vaccine, and 9.3 per cent have received no doses.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,416,368 doses of COVID vaccines.
