The driver of a pickup truck has died after a head-on collision with a gravel truck near Port Hardy on Friday.
The crash occurred on Highway 19 between Byng and Fort Rupert roads.
Brent Borg, Port Hardy’s fire chief says the now-deceased driver of the pickup truck was travelling north and the driver of the gravel truck was travelling south when the collision happened.
The driver of the gravel truck was taken to hospital and was later released.
Borg says RCMP is conducting an investigation into the factors that led to the crash.
