Victoria Fire responded to an overnight car fire, making that three vehicle fires over the last two weeks.

Firefighters were called out to the 1600 block of Denman Street around 1 a.m. Friday morning.

An Instagram post from the Victoria Firefighters Association says crews with Engine 1 wasted no time in deploying the bumper line and using tank water to subdue the flames coming from the small truck.

“The front tires of the vehicle exploded under the heat but luckily the car was parked on the street and away from any potential exposures that may have been affected,” the post reads.

Firefighters say the vehicles cab and truck bed were both fully involved, but the fire didn’t take long to extinguish.

The association added it’s unclear at this point what started the fire, adding no injuring were reported.

This is the third vehicle fire crews have responded to in the span of a week.

On Monday, Victoria firefighters were called out to an early morning camper van fire on Balfour Avenue.

The cause of that fire has been deemed “human error” in using a candle.

Fire crews also responded to a vehicle fire on Kings Road on March 5 where the engine of an older model Toyota Camry caught fire.

In that incident, the initial call to the fire department gave an incorrect address, prompting a reminder from firefighters.

“Just a quick reminder to be as accurate as possible when calling 911 and giving information to dispatchers,” they said.

“While this incident worked out okay, it is easy to see how delays resulting from inaccurate information could lead to serious consequences.”
