The Times Colonist 10K race is in its 29th year, and Victorians are getting ready to take on the scenic 10-kilometre route around downtown Victoria and Dallas Road.

About 8,000 walkers, runners and wheelchair competitors are expected to participate Sunday.

CHEK will also be streaming the Thrifty Foods Family Run finish line.

The TC10K race start is at 8 a.m. and the start line will be at Government and Belleville Street between the Empress Hotel and the Provincial Legislature.

Racers can look forward to on route entertainment like live music.

The Thrifty Foods Family Run starts at 11 a.m. and is for families and friends, where you can enjoy a walk or jog along a 1.5-kilometre route and then check out the festivities in the KidZone.

The start line for it can be found between the legislature and the Royal B.C. Museum.

The event is sponsored by the Times Colonist and put on by RunSport, who promotes road and cross-country running, track and field events, as well as recreational activities such as jogging and walking for health and fitness in the capital region.
