WATCH: Police appeal for witnesses after Saanich camera store robbery and vehicle theft

Saanich Police are investing two crime scenes and looking for witnesses after a robbery at a camera store led them to a stolen vehicle.

It all started when an alert bus passenger saw a man trying to pry the door open at Japan camera in the 3,200-block of Douglas Street.

When police arrived, the glass was broken and the thief had stolen several items.

But police had a good description of the suspect’s getaway vehicle and it was found a few blocks away on Tolcross Avenue.

It turns out the vehicle was stolen from an automotive repair shop near the camera store.

“It appeared the initial break-in had occurred after the vehicle was stolen and was used obviously to get away from the scene,” says Sgt. Alan Gurzinski. “We’ve got the forensic identification members involved with this in the vehicle and scene and investigators are still looking into possible suspects.”

Saanich Police asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious near the camera store or automotive shop, both in the 3,200-block of Douglas to contact them.
