Central Saanich police seize drugs, weapons and replica firearms

Drugs and weapons seized by Central Saanich police on June 13.

Cocaine, marijuana, several edged weapons and replica firearms were seized by Central Saanich police after they searched a residence Tuesday. 

According to the Central Saanich Police Service, officers, along with members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on a residence in the 7200 block of Veyaness Road. Police said a “substantial” amount of drugs, including cocaine and marijuana, were seized along with several edged weapons and replica firearms. The search warrant was part of an investigation involving other police agencies. 

One man and two women were arrested. They were released on promise to appear and undertaking with conditions. Drugs and weapons-related charges have been forwarded to the Crown for review. 

“The Central Saanich Police Service is concerned when drug trafficking occurs within the community and are acutely aware of the risk to the public as a result of these drugs,” Derren Lench of the Central Saanich Police Service said in a statement.  

“This is even more of a concern given the current opioid crisis across the country and within our region. We will continue to target all residences being utilized for the purpose of selling drugs.”
