Saanich Fire says they were unsure of the extent of the injuries, but the student was complaining of sore ribs.

Saanich Fire was called to cliffs near Spectrum for a young man who fell about 20 feet off a cliff near the school.

Acting Captain Rod Sidhu tells CHEK News he was unsure of the extent of the youth’s injuries.

“They were complaining about some sore ribs and we took spinal precautions as well and we just assisted BCEHS in packing them out of the bush on the spine board,” Sidhu said. “He seemed to be in good spirits, so we’re hopeful it’s minor.”

He says the area where they were getting the student out had slippery and sharp rocks.

Sidhu was unsure why the youth was on the cliff near Spectrum at the time of the fall, but noted some other youths were in the area.

He is unsure if the youth was a Spectrum student. CHEK News has reached out to the Greater Victoria School District to confirm if this was a student at the nearby school.
