A young woman who accidentally entered the wrong home after a night of heavy drinking will not be charged with a crime, say RCMP.

According to a recent Campbell River RCMP press release, a couple woke up in the middle of the night and discovered a 20-year-old woman randomly passed out on their couch.

RCMP say the 20-year-old had consumed “far too much alcohol” and mistakenly “wandered” into the couple’s home through an unlocked door.

“Fortunately for the young female, the homeowners were extremely understanding and police were able to find the young lady a safe place,” the release said.

RCMP say the incident is a good reminder for people to lock their doors.
