A 33-year-old Saanich woman who went missing over the weekend near the Malahat Summit has been found dead.

Jaime Traynor, 33, was reported missing from her Saanich home by her family on June 6. Traynor’s vehicle was discovered by the Shawnigan Lake RCMP at the Malahat Viewpoint early on June 7, which resulted in Cowichan Search and Rescue being called to help locate her.

According to a Shawnigan Lake RCMP media release issued on Tuesday morning, Traynor’s body was found near where her vehicle was found abandoned at the Malahat Highway Summit in the late afternoon on June 8.

BC Coroners Service is now conducting an investigation into the death.

Shawnigan Lake RCMP said her death is not considered suspicious.
