A 54-year-old woman is set to be charged with second degree murder in the death of her 79-year-old husband in Sechelt.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Max Fischer was found dead in his residence on the Sunshine Coast Highway on Wednesday.

Emergency responders found suspicious injuries on the deceased and his death was deemed a homicide.

His 54-year-old wife Karin Fischer was arrested soon after.

She is due to appear before a B.C. Provincial Court judge on Friday to be charged in the case.

IHIT say both the victim and the accused are German citizens.

“Investigators remain in Sechelt continuing their investigation and collecting further evidence,” said Sergeant Frank Jang of IHIT.
