A Nanaimo woman is pleading with the public to help find her missing 16-year-old sister who disappeared earlier this month.

Simone Bruce was last seen in the West Shore area on April 19 wearing red scrub pants, a black and silver sparkly tank top, and an army print zip-up.

She is believed to have been carrying a black and yellow backpack that contained a pair of yellow dickie pants at the time of her disappearance.

Melody Bruce told CHEK News she hasn’t seen or heard from her sister since April 19 and isn’t exactly sure where in the West Shore area she went missing.

“I have all sorts of feelings right now. I just want her to be safe and be OK.”

Melody said her sister is really shy and doesn’t talk much. She also said her sister has disappeared in the past but has always returned very shortly afterwards and that is not like her to be out of contact for such an extended period of time.

“All I want for her to do is just to come home. I don’t care what kind of circumstances she is coming from, as long as she is home safe.”

The family has filed a missing person report with the West Shore RCMP, although no press release has been issued to the media regarding Simone’s disappearance.

Melody has also posted about Simone’s disappearance on social media and is searching all over in hopes of finding her. She said is thankful to those who have reached out to help and is hoping someone will come forward with information.

“This is something I never wanted to navigate on my own,” said Melody. “But the help I have been given so far has been great.”

Bruce, who also goes by Simone Sharita Beans, is described as having blonde hair and brown eyes and weighing approximately 130 pounds. She may also have fake tattoos drawn on her face with makeup.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP and cite file number WS22-6461.
