Woman pulled to the ground, dragged and robbed in downtown Victoria: police

Victoria police are seeking help from the public to identify a suspect after they allegedly robbed a woman, pulling her to the ground and dragging her before making off with her purse.

The incident happened around noon Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the 1900-block of Douglas Street, where the woman, 59, was walking toward her vehicle, according to VicPD in a news release Tuesday.

Police say the suspect approached the woman from behind and grabbed her purse. The woman was pulled to the ground and dragged a short distance, and she suffered non-life-threatening injuries to her head, knees and wrist as a result.

“The suspect ran away with the victim’s purse and was last seen boarding a BC Transit bus. Bystanders in the area came to the victim’s aid,” said VicPD in the release.

The suspect is described as approximately 40 years old and standing 6′ to 6’3″ with a medium build, partially balding red-brown hair and a big beard.
