VicPD are asking witnesses who may have noticed a suspected impaired driver to come forward following a crash in Fairfield on Tuesday that sent one man to hospital.

Officers found two badly damaged vehicles at the intersection of Gonzales Avenue and Foul Bay Road at around 4 p.m.

The male driver of one of the vehicles was unconscious and was being treated by a passer-by who happened to be an off-duty physician.

VicPD say that when paramedics arrived to treat the man, they noted signs of a potential opioid overdose and administered Narcan.

The man regained consciousness and his condition improved significantly.

Police say he was then transported to hospital.

The other driver was not hurt.

VicPD say that the initial investigation indicates that one of the vehicles involved may have been travelling at high speed.

The vehicles involved in the collision are:

A grey 2008 Hyundai Sonata
A green 1993 Honda Accord

Traffic officers are asking anyone who was in the Fairfield neighbourhood around 4 p.m. yesterday and may have witnessed a vehicle being driven unusually to call their non-emergency line at 250-995-7654 or Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
