Wind warning issued for north and west Vancouver Island

A strong front expected to arrive Saturday night has resulted in a wind warning being issued for north and west Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada says southeast winds of 70 to 90 km/h may be seen over exposed coastal sections.

The winds are expected to ease midday Sunday as the system moves east.

They are reminding the public that strong winds may cause damage to buildings. Roof shingles and loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
