A storm that is arriving on the B.C. coast Sunday has resulted in multiple weather warnings being issued from Environment Canada.

A wind warning forecasting of up to 80 km/h winds has been issued for south, east and west Vancouver Island — and the Southern Gulf Islands.

A rainfall warning has also been issued for west and east Vancouver Island warning of rain totalling 80 to 100 millimeters by Tuesday.

A wind warning on the North Island is a warning of winds up to 90 km/h gusting up to 110 Sunday evening .

Winds are expected to be the strongest tonight and ease Monday morning for most of the Island. The heaviest rainfall will come Sunday night and Monday morning before tapering off.

An unstable onshore flow on Tuesday may also bring scattered thunderstorms for coastal B.C. with locally intense rainfall rates and amounts.

Environment Canada warns that damage could occur. Items such as roof shingles could damage windows, and loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Tree branches could also break.

They also advise that the rainfall may result in high river levels and that the latest information flood warnings and advisories can be found on the BC River Forecast Centre page.
