Environment Canada has issued a wind advisory for west and north Vancouver Island, and a rainfall warning from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

After a brief break, another storm is set to pack a punch on Vancouver Island with strong winds and heavy rain Wednesday.

Environment Canada issued a wind advisory for north and west Vancouver Island Wednesday morning as a frontal wave makes its way to the region this afternoon.

Wind gusts are forecast to be as strong as 90 kilometres-per-hour for exposed central and north Island coastal sections, and up to 80 km/h for the west coast.

The weather office says the winds could potentially damage buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, and loose objects may be tossed and could cause injuries.

Environment Canada is also warning of potential flash floods and water pooling on roads for east Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.

The heaviest rainfall is expected to bring 50 millimetres of rain between Qualicum Bay and Fanny Bay Wednesday night.

Both the wind and rain is forecast to ease as the system exits the region.

The Facebook account of Kludahk Trail posted a video Tuesday night of Sandcut Falls near Jordan River. The post stated, “We posted a video the other day of Sandcut Falls near Jordan River. We thought the falls were big then and they were but when we went back today after the heavy rains all night the falls fell into a new category level known as insane. Managed to get in behind again. Enjoy.”
