The Los Angeles Kings, including Vancouver Island’s Willie Mitchell, defeated the New York Rangers in double overtime to win the Stanley Cup. It’s the second Stanley Cup win in three years for Mitchell, from Port McNeill, and the Kings. The Kings won in game 5 against the Rangers on a goal from Alec Martinez at the 14.43 mark of the second overtime period.
