West Shore RCMP says it will increase speed enforcement after numerous complaints in rural areas.

The detachment’s media relations officer Constable Nancy Saggar says with warmer weather, West Shore RCMP has received reports of an increase in speeding motorcyclists in the Highlands and Metchosin areas.

Saggar said in a statement there will be extra patrols and traffic enforcement in those areas.

“We will be issuing tickets to violators, whether you are in a motor vehicle or motorcycle.”

West Shore RCMP says speed is a major contributing factor in fatal crashes in B.C. and remind residents to slow down, obey speed limits and avoid getting a ticket.
