Police are asking for witnesses to help them find the driver of a vehicle that drove away after hitting a pedestrian Saturday night in Langford.

West Shore RCMP says a woman called them around 8:20 p.m. to say she had been struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the intersection at Veterans Memorial Parkway and Goldstream Avenue.

Police say the driver approached the vehicle to a red light and was about to make a right turn on to Veterans Memorial Parkway when the vehicle hit the woman in the leg and resulted in her hitting the hood of the car.

Investigators say the vehicle briefly stopped but then took off on Veterans Memorial way.

The Mounties say the woman was not seriously injured, but are looking for the driver or any witnesses to come forward and speak to police about the collision.

Police say the suspect vehicle is described as being burnt orange in colour and had a similar body shape to an older model Pontiac “Firefly”.

The licence plate number is not known.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call West Shore RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
