The West Shore RCMP are seeking help from the public to identify a suspect believed to have lit a porta-potty on fire earlier this month.

On Nov. 12, around 1:16 a.m., Mounties were called to a report of a fire at a construction site near the 3300 block of Luxton Road in Langford.

Firefighters from the Langford Fire Department were already on scene and had put out the flames, which were engulfing a portable toilet, according to RCMP in a release Monday.

Police believe the fire was intentionally set.

“The fire caused significant damage to the side of the building, and police believe this was an act of arson,” said RCMP in the release. “Police obtained video surveillance of the site, which captured the suspect leaving the scene.”

RCMP say the suspect has light-medium-coloured skin and was last seen on camera around 12:45 a.m. walking away from the site and down the Chidlow Connector. At the time, they were wearing dark clothing and a blue baseball cap.

Anyone who can identify the suspect in the picture provided or has information regarding the investigation is asked to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
