West Shore RCMP is investigating a reported indecent act that occurred at View Royal Elementary earlier this month.

Police say the incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. on April 12, when a man allegedly entered the school grounds and exposed himself to two young girls, aged 5 and 11, who were playing in the field.

In a police report it outlines that the two girls ran away from the man and reported the incident to a staff member, who proceeded to call police.

“This is the kind of incident that garners a visceral response from both the public and the officers responding to the call,” said West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer Cst. Meighan Massey.

“We are conducting a thorough and methodical investigation into the incident. Kudos to the two girls who kept their wits about them, got themselves to the school monitor, and reported right away.”

Police describe the man as being between 30 and 40 years old, with short dark hair, clean-shaven and wearing blue jeans and possibly a two-tone jacket with black in the middle.

A search of the area was conducted with officers and police dogs afterwards, however, police say they were unsuccessful in finding someone who matched the description.

West Shore RCMP is asking the public in the area to check home and vehicle surveillance for any images of the man who might match the description.

Any other witnesses or individuals with more information are being asked to contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
