A driver that was previously prohibited due to driving impaired and unlicensed has been arrested after hitting a four-year-old child in Langford.
On April 27 around 4:20 p.m., West Shore RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, and the Langford Fire Department responded to the 100-block of Bellamy Link for reports a driver hit a young girl.
Officers learned the child was riding her bike on the road when she veered from the curb and was hit by the driver of a grey 2002 Mazda Tribute.
She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The driver remained on scene and officers determined he had previously been prohibited from driving due to driving impaired and driving without a license.
Officers took a breath sample and determined he did have alcohol in his system, but it was below the legal limit.
The 37-year-old driver was arrested for prohibited driving and released on an undertaking with conditions to not be found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in court in June.
