Washout delays traffic on highway to Tofino and Ucluelet

A section of the Pacific Rim Highway near Kennedy Lake is down a single-alternating lane after a washout.

A washout on the Pacific Rim Highway, leading to Tofino and Ucluelet, has reduced traffic down to a single-alternating lane Tuesday morning.

Drive B.C. first reported the road closed just after 4 a.m.

The area impacted was between Toquart Bay Road and the Nahmit forest service road and Upper Taylor Main forest service road.

Drivers should expect delays. Large amounts of rainfall have been hitting the Island over the last week impacting roads, on Sunday northbound traffic on the Malahat was shutdown after a rock slide. No one was injured in the incident.
